In the position of Full-Time Millwright / Welder, you will be a key member of the Gazzola Paving Limited Operations and Equipment Maintenance Team. Your responsibilities will include supporting the maintenance, repair, and reliable operation of our asphalt plant, asphalt paving equipment, and winter maintenance fleet.
The successful candidate will perform a combination of millwright, mechanical, fabrication, and welding work. A major focus of the position will be completing repairs and improvements identified at the asphalt plant during the seasonal winter shutdown, ensuring the plant is fully prepared and reliable for the upcoming asphalt production season.
Throughout the year, the position will also support the repair and maintenance of asphalt paving and winter maintenance equipment.
Your tasks will include: - Perform millwright, mechanical, welding, and fabrication work at the asphalt plant and equipment maintenance facility
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving asphalt plant equipment, conveyors, elevators, screens, bins, gates, bearings, shafts, motors, and other production components
- Complete repairs and maintenance items identified during the asphalt plant’s seasonal winter shutdown
- Fabricate, modify, repair, and install steel components, guards, chutes, platforms, brackets, and other equipment as required
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding, fitting, and metal fabrication using appropriate equipment and procedures
- Assist with preventative maintenance and major repairs to improve the reliability of the asphalt plant
- Support repairs to asphalt pavers, rollers, shuttle buggies, loaders, skid steers, snowplows, salters, and other asphalt and winter maintenance equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and assist with emergency repairs when required
- Inspect machinery and identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components before they result in equipment failure
- Safely dismantle, repair, replace, align, and reinstall mechanical components
- Work closely with the Asphalt Plant Operations Team, Equipment Maintenance Team, mechanics, operators, and management
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and comply with all company health and safety policies and applicable legislation

Qualifications: - Previous experience as a millwright, industrial mechanic, welder, fabricator, or in a similar mechanical maintenance position
- Strong welding and fabrication skills
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial or heavy equipment
- Ability to read measurements, fabricate components, and safely use welding, cutting, grinding, and mechanical tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance and operations team
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Physical capability to perform the requirements of the position, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working around industrial equipment
- Good communication skills, with the ability to listen and follow direction effectively
- Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
- Industrial Millwright (433A) certification or relevant trade certification is an asset
- Previous millwright, maintenance, or welding experience at an asphalt plant is a strong asset
- Experience working with asphalt paving or winter maintenance equipment is an asset
